Where the Bridge Ends

She used to think love needed presence. She believed it had to be measured by how often two people saw each other, touched each other, or stood beside one another physically. But then she met someone who changed the way she understood connection. Unexpected feelings for the most unexpected person hit different. As someone who never really understood how love works, she didn’t expect to feel something so deep for someone she did not see every day. They were separated by distance, yet somehow, he became part of her everyday life through simple conversations, shared silence, late-night talks, small check-ins, and the comfort of knowing someone was there. As the months grew, they didn’t grow weary. Continuously choosing each other through words alone taught her something beautiful: loving someone without seeing them every day is proof that love does not come from the eyes, but from the heart. Sometimes, it begins from understanding. From peace. From sincerity. From the feeling of safety someone quietly gives her heart.

The distance never weakened what she felt; if anything, it made her realize how genuine it truly was.

Because when a connection is real, presence is felt even from afar.

She didn’t choose the distance, but she would still choose him again and again—no matter how far.

And if there is another lifetime, she wouldn’t hesitate to choose him again.

To wait for him again.

Because he is worth every moment—worth every second spent in quiet conversations, in handling breakthroughs gently, in understanding each other without judgment, and in pouring their hearts out.

They hurt and healed together. They fixed things maturely, humbly, and softly. Even in silence, he made things feel calm again. When the end came, that silent goodbye—knowing it was over—somehow turned into a gentle and soft goodbye instead.

For the first time, she could finally say she fell in love with him—quietly, genuinely, peacefully, truly, deeply. This was her very first time falling in love, and it happened with someone she had never even met in person. Miles apart, he showed her that loving someone doesn't need sight to be felt. And for that, she will always be thankful to him—for introducing her heart to a love like this, and for letting her feel what it truly means to love.

For now, those words she wanted to tell him so badly... she lets them whisper into the wind to reach him softly: I love you, my favourite person. It would be him, over and over again—if life gave her more than one chance.

She has no exact words, no clear steps, and no idea how to move forward from here. Yet, she will always treasure his memories and keep them close.

It is simply that she can no longer walk on the same bridge with him. Now, as his presence slowly fades, they go their separate ways.

After all the quiet, long days of wondering, her feelings are finally named. Her heart is ready to call it by its true name: it was her falling in love with a man, deeply and truly across the miles. For once, their hearts connected in song, letting the melodies speak for all the unspoken spaces between them, matching their rhythms until the very last soft goodbye.

And until that next life, see you my love Quietly, she carries what she once felt, even from afar. As she slowly doesn't know how to close this chapter, she has no idea if she could go back to her old self again. But this time, she returns with higher walls and thicker ones, leaving no doors behind. This time, she will be careful never to let her guard down again. If it's not him, then it's not anyone else. It will be only her, safe within those four corners—chronically off, living a soft life, simply existing until life whispers that it’s time to go.
